Life @ Richard Merkin

Some of us have been at this school for 2 or 3 years. We had some good times at Richard Merkin. In the 6th grade, we located off of La Cienega. We use the Ba’hi Center for our Science and P.E. classes. The rest of the classes, we use the bungalows for Math, English, History, and A.V.I.D. We had block scheluedue. That means that we had 3 classes for 2 hours and 1 class for 45 minutes. On Mondays and Thursdays, we had the odd periods, which were 1, 3 and 5 and advisory. On Tuesdays and Fridays we had the even periods, which were 2, 4, and 6 and advisory. On Wednesdays, we had all our periods except advisory. Our dress code was a white-collar shirt and khaki pants.
Our classes were 2 hours long. In math, we learned basic pre-algebra. In English, we learn about literature. In science, we learned about earth science. In P.E., we play most of the time and earn about physical education. In history, we learn about ancient history.
In advisory, we had free time.
On the last day of school, we went to the park for a barbeque. We had a water fight. Were we playing with water balloons, and waters bottles. We also had a basketball tournament. They serve us hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, chips and juices.
Many students had already been here before the seventh grade. Many of those students said that they liked the sixth grade better then they liked the seventh grade. Our school was built just for us and everything in it was brand new we had new books new supplies and new equipment. We were the first ones to use the schoolbooks and everything the school had to offer us.
Some difference between the sixth grade and the seventh grade was that in the sixth we had different food in the sixth our food was kind of like TV dinners and this year it was catered to us by a company called royal dinning. We had a bigger playground last year and this year it was very little. We had different teachers last year and this year we had a total 11 teachers. We also had smaller classes last year and this year they were kind of bigger. We didn’t have our classrooms separated by a sheet in the seventh grade we had a standard class. The thing that was the same was that we still had PE in the park.
Compared to all the three years we had the least amount of drama in the seventh grade and there was more in the eight grade in the sixth there was a lot of fights and in the eight many things happened we were clam for seventh year there wasn’t much drama or at least there was but we weren’t aware of it all. The seventh grade we were just exploring and we hardly herd or saw any that the school was aware of. I guess being a student in that year wasn’t as cool as any other year there wasn’t much drama most of us were tight between each other.
The difference between sixth, seventh, and eighth grade is each year has gotten a little better. We have a total of 15 teachers. The lunch we eat is kind of good. For P.E., we go to the gym and go to the park alternating.
